“The bride wanted a lot of color and she was really brave in letting us go wild with it,” says Regina Crosby. A fiery palette of red, orange, mustard yellow and gold with touches of blue drove the design.

A single piece of red coral we had found was used as inspiration when storyboarding for Bhaji and Chris’s Tulum wedding.

“The bold colors were a nice juxtaposition to the ocean—which did its job and provided the blue,” notes Krista. “Our goal is
to create beach weddings that are elegant, unique and personal… with none of the usual go-to beach kitch.”

About Tulum

Crosby + Jon have had the pleasure of collecting many treasures over the years of designing in Tulum, Mexico. A piece of red coral they had found was used as inspiration when storyboarding for Bhaji and Chris’s Tulum wedding. “With every destination wedding, we want
the inspiration to be organic to both the couple and the setting.” explains Krista Jon. “The bride wanted a lot of color and she was really brave in letting us go wild with it,” says Regina Crosby. A fiery palette of red, orange, mustard yellow and gold with touches of blue drove the design. “We are not afraid to use color, but it has to be done right, so we actually spent a ridiculous amount of time fine-tuning this color palette!” notes Regina with a laugh. The time was well spent, as the end result was a stunning use of color that isn’t commonly seen. “The bold colors were a nice juxtaposition to the ocean—which did its job and provided the blue,” notes Krista. “Our goal is
to create beach weddings that are elegant, unique and personal… with none of the usual go-to beach kitch.”

Finding the location was serendipitous, says Crosby, who first discovered the site when she hailed a cab in the parking lot of Tulum’s Viento de Mar, a brand-new 25-room beachside boutique hotel with cozy bungalows in lieu of hotel rooms. “I thought it would be perfect for a young, stylish event, and sure enough, a few months later we did the hotel’s very first wedding.” Young and stylish indeed, the authentic architecture and vast white beach was the perfect setting for the elegant ceremony, which featured a modern-vintage vibe. Guests were seated on a cozy mix of cushioned benches, bistro chairs and linen sofas all sourced from Archive Mexico, a growing branch of California’s Archive Rentals which serves Cancun, Riviera Maya and Tulum. The hotel’s open-air dining room gave a clean white backdrop, and was transformed into a colorful reception with rustic wood tables set with brightly colored flowers in vintage aqua blue bottles. Tables were set with vintage gold-rimmed glasses and elegant white china, also from Archive. “Archive Mexico has changed the rental landscape in the area, providing more options for a personal and upscale destination wedding.”
