About Sundance Utah

Robert Redford’s Sundance Resort in Utah is famous for a reason, and not just for the obvious one (ah-hem, his film festival) but it is also world-renown as one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the West.  So when our friend and Utah planner Donna Urban called us to partner on a Summer wedding there, we couldn’t have been more thrilled.  We found every inch of Sundance to be a stunning setting for a ceremony and reception. But that didn’t mean our job would be easy (the part where we hauled supplies to the top of the mountain by chairlift!), but it would prove to be a magical experience for both us, the couple and their guests.  For the bridal party, staying a weekend in this small mountain enclave brought everyone together in the great outdoors.  Surrounded by pine trees, rivers, deer, log cabins, sweeping mountain views, our goal was to design a modern yet romantic wedding that would complement the awe-inspiring landscape.
For the ceremony, family and friends nestled into the green grass courtyard, lined by a stone rock wall and surrounded by towering trees and the crisp smell of pine. An eclectic mix of Archive Rentals natural wood farm chairs and rustic pews were brought in to blend seamlessly into the historic vibe of the resort. Bride and groom said their I-do’s under a custom built arbor made with birch tree branches and adorned with gorgeous florals by Krista Jon, including white garden roses, peonies and green botanicals.
Once the vows were complete, guests entered through large barn doors to the grand reception area.  For the table, we paired Archive’s blush hued goblets with their retro Hepburn style plate for an elegant yet fun design. In effort to bring the outdoors in, we used centerpieces of mini birch ‘teepees’ and birch logs covered in blooms.
Spirits were high as guests danced and enjoyed the lounges set just inches away from the stream and its natural waterfall (seriously!) As a fun nod to the 4th of July date, we designed the desert station was designed to look like a vintage Americana fireworks stand, complete with sparklers and delicious hometown style desserts in red, white and blue. The night ended with the bride and groom and their guests enjoying sweet treats and waving their sparklers under the enormous star-filled sky.  The scene felt a little like something out of a movie… fitting indeed for a picture perfect Sundance wedding.
