We chose watercolor blushes, pinks, slate gray and aqua, with a modern balance of clean white and luxe gold. With this color palate as our design base, we drew further inspiration from the pure beauty of Tulum, the venue’s minimalistic architecture, and the lush tropical foliage.

Taylea’s vision for her wedding was to feel modern and luxurious, yet still a tropical experience. She leaned toward soft colors like those from a sunset reflected on the water.

We designed the ceremony with romantic tufted furniture for seating, facing a grand canopy draped with vintage lace and crochet and swagged with a thick garland of blush and pink roses.

About Romantic Tulum

We have had the good fortune of getting to know Tulum intimately while designing over the past couple of years. It takes a special type of couple to appreciate the “alternative luxuries” Tulum has to offer. You won’t find the palatial all-inclusive resorts of Riviera Maya, but you will find tranquility and privacy that cannot be matched; along with white sand beaches and aqua Caribbean water, set against an undeveloped tropical backdrop. Not to mention the town is alive with multi-cultural restaurants, all focused on healthy and delicious cuisine. Because of this, forward-thinking couples are discovering Tulum and finding it to be their perfect destination wedding location. Taylea and Rob of Atlanta, Georgia were one of those couples, seeking us out to help them navigate Tulum and plan their wedding weekend.

Taylea’s vision for her wedding was to feel modern and luxurious, yet still a tropical experience. She leaned toward soft colors like those from a sunset reflected on the water. We couldn’t have been more inspired! We chose watercolor blushes, pinks, slate gray and aqua, with a modern balance of clean white and luxe gold. With this color palate as our design base, we drew further inspiration from the pure beauty of Tulum, the venue’s minimalistic architecture, and the lush tropical foliage. We wanted all elements of the wedding to feel authentic to that of the surrounding Mexican culture, so we partnered with local Mayan artisans in creating welcome gift bags for the guests. The bags were hand-made by a local artist using Mexican tapestries and contained locally sourced clay mescal bottles painted in shades of ocean blue. Other goodies included luxurious Turkish beach towels and organic sunscreen.

The ceremony was held on the beaches of Casa Violeta. We designed the ceremony with romantic tufted furniture for seating, facing a grand canopy draped with vintage lace and crochet and swagged with a thick garland of blush and pink roses. The reception followed at Sanara, one of our favorite modern boutique hotels in Tulum. The table-scape boasted vintage brass candlesticks and blush glassware. As always, we enjoyed custom making a few touches ourselves, including delicate watercolor dyed runners and gold-dipped marble table numbers. On the open air-patio, we placed luxe lounges for guests to sit and enjoy the ocean view. We continued the modern and soft feel of the day

with geometric poufs, woven chairs and French linen tufted sofas. Soft blush and pink florals topped off the look, and every space was awash with candlelight.

Destination weddings are an intoxicating mix of escape, adventure and romance; so in design, our goal is always to create an intimate and unforgettable experience… everything about Taylea and Rob’s wedding fulfilled just that, and gave them a perfect setting to be closely surrounded by friends and family, enjoying the serene yet exciting atmosphere of Tulum, Mexico.
