About Pelican Hill
Our latest challenge was to create a rustic Texas shindig for the Toyota Corporation at the Pelican Hill Resort + Spa. The resort’s expansive courtyards were an ideal spot to create an open-air ranch style space. Now we just needed a little imagination (and some Archive Rentals) to make the space to come alive with a Wild West spirit.
For a welcoming western atmosphere, we knew that keeping the setting authentic was key. At dinnertime, guests made their way to a stone courtyard to dine at wooden farm tables beneath a pergola with a rusted tin roof. We added Archive’s painted farm chairs in blues, yellows, reds for a fun colorful pop. Wagon wheel chandeliers were hung overhead, and illuminated rich burgundy floral centerpieces by florist Art With Nature. We used antique farmhouse shutters as table runners, and added horseshoes among the florals. For tabletop, vintage silver and cut crystal dinnerware added an unexpected touch of luxury to rustic enamel camp plates and mugs.
After dinner, the party continued in an outdoor saloon, complete with horse tack and bourbon craft cocktails. Vintage green railway lanterns lit the courtyard as guests relaxed in cozy lounges outfitted with worn leather sofas, cowhide pillows and flannel throws.
It was a thrill to transport the guests, to a different time and place, even just for a night. As designers, it’s a joy to create out-of-the-box corporate events, but this time seemed extra special. As we watched guests enjoying the night, we truly felt as though we got to ride off into the sunset!

Pristine white sands, a colorful pastel palette and mixed woven textures were the perfect combination for our “Malibu meets Morocco” corporate brunch.
We have had the pleasure of designing several corporate retreats for Toyota at the luxurious Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach.
Located in sunny Southern California we often see “beach themes,” so as vigilant designers our challenge was to create a dinner party that stood out amongst the rest.
