Being surrounded by a paradise of protected mangroves and lush local foliage, we were easily inspired by the grounds as well as the allure of the Mayan culture.

Away from the mainstream of Cancun’ s hotel zone, the twenty-nine acre property of Nizuc exudes both organic simplicity and modern luxury.

We love redefining the idea of destination beach wedding, and our goal was design a wedding both elegant and organic all at once.

About Nizuc

It may be Mexico but you will not find any sombreros or mariachi bands here. Located along the white sandy beaches of the Yucatan Peninsula, Nizuc Resort & Spa is a not-so-average Mexico destination that exceeds all expectations of a luxury. In addition to the extraordinary resort amenities, the surrounding area provides warm turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and lush tropical rainforests, making this a nature lover’ s treasure. Dana Grant photographed the day, and truly captured this striking and romantic day.

On the venue: Nizuc was an obvious choice. Its location is hands down one of our favorite spots to be. Away from the mainstream of Cancun’ s hotel zone, the twenty-nine acre property exudes both organic simplicity and modern luxury. Being surrounded by a paradise of protected mangroves and lush local foliage, we were easily inspired by the grounds as well as the allure of the Mayan culture.

On the design: We love redefining the idea of destination beach wedding, and our goal was design a wedding both elegant and organic all at once. We started by combining timeless elements with natural textures for a stylish yet youthful style. Of course Nizuc provided the perfect match for our style, so we were excited to transform the raw space. We especially loved the outdoor ceremony, and the contrast between delicate crystal chandelier set against the rough-hewn wood of the pier. We continued the theme by using refined tufted linen furniture from Archive Mexico, and set it amid coarse ocean rock formations to create an unexpected cocktail lounge. We polished the look with old world touches by using traditional white lace, gold accents, and a sultry red floral palette. We are always in awe of the inspiration nature provides, and continually challenged to find new ways to design something exceptional for every destination.
