We were thrilled when Chelsea + Peter chose Montauk as their wedding location. Just over 100 miles east of Midtown Manhattan, Montauk proved to be a trendy destination with it’s fashion forward yet youthful vibe. Our design took place at Sole East, a 1920s historical landmark building perfectly located with walking distance to the beach and downtown. More importantly, Sole East provided a breathtaking location for the main event with over 2 acres of landscaped gardens.
Chelsea and Peter’s invitation suite was chic + simple. We selected a soft palette and a few modern touches that set the mood for the entire day.
Keeping the youthful style of Montauk in mind, we kept the bridal party attire sophisticated yet casual.
One of our favorite design elements was the natural ceremony arch – lent to us by a perfectly placed tree. (Couldn’t we have one of these at every wedding location?) We wove simple white fabric between the branches to frame the couple, and Saipua Florals offered the final touches – natural botanicals and perfectly tucked peonies.
Keeping in line with the youthful and organic garden ambiance, natural colored bistro chairs fanned out for all 300 guests.
After the ceremony, guests made their way to a large white tent lit with overhead café lights. We set rows of long reception tables with modern brushed gold flatware, sleek brass chargers and gold rimmed glassware. Each place setting had a special touch of peach-toned beads and a frayed ecru linen napkin. The florals for reception maintained the fresh-picked garden vibe of the ceremony, with variations of ivory and green.
Montauk proved to be the perfect corner of the world for Chelsea and Peter’s I do’s. Sole East was the perfect nod to the historical elements of the city, yet allowed room for memorable chic + modern touches throughout the ceremony and reception design. We are grateful to the team below for coming together for our first ever Montauk wedding. We can’t wait to come back!
